استشهاد غير مناسب، كأن يستشهد المؤلف بمصدر المعلومات غير الصحيح. وقد يكون التحيز ناتجا عن إغفال الاستشهاد بالمصدر كله، أو بسبب الاستشهاد بمؤلف مشهور وإغفال مؤلف مغمور.
